Despite the silence on this page, much has been happening backstage.
We had over 150 paper and tutorial proposals, and we have finalized a list of speakers. Our programme committee spent a lot of time reviewing the papers, and we thank them. We have a draft programme which will be up on the web site soon; there will be three concurrent sessions on most days. I'm particularly looking forward to hearing and meeting Professor Eben Moglen, General Counsel of the Free Software Foundation, co-author of the GNU GPL, and world authority on free software licencing.
Our venue in the Manning Clarke Theatres at ANU have been confirmed. It's a good location: comfortable theatres, good AV support, easy to access and with a big foyer for socializing between sessions.
We have arranged accomodation at Burgman College at ANU, which is close to the theatre and social venues. We should shortly have a list of other venues. We have found out that a motor race (the Rally of Canberra) is running over the same period, so if you want to stay in a hotel off campus it might be good to book early. Venues for the conference dinner, speaker's dinner and professional networking session are also settled or nearly settled.
We have signed up two major sponsors, both of whom are strong Linux supporters. There should be an announcement about that shortly.
Registration is open, and we have steep early-bird discounts for the month of January only. Professional registration is AUD 460 rather than 690, and hobbyist registration is AUD 200 rather than 300. LCA has sold out in recent years, so it's good to save some money and register soon.
