From New Zealand to Bolivia, the Koha Library system flies
Koha is a full-featured open-source ILS. Developed initially in New Zealand by Katipo Communications Ltd and first deployed in January of 2000 for Horowhenua Library Trust, it is currently maintained by a team of software providers and library technology staff from around the globe. In this seminar Chris will be talking about who Katipo Communications are and why Koha was developed. He will then talk about why it was released under the GPL, how it's grown, the challenges we have encountered and where to from here.
Chris has a BSc in computer science and a BA in Maths and Maori Studies. Chris has been with Katipo since early in 1997 and has worked on projects such as the Koha Library System (www.koha.org) and CafeNET (www.cafenet.co.nz).
