• The annual Foundations of Open Media software developer conference FOMS is held on Thursday 15th and Friday 16th January in Hobart.

Sydney

• The monthly meeting of the Sydney Linux Users Group (SLUG) will probably be held on Friday January 30.

Canberra

• Canberra Linux Users Group (CLUG) Programmers' SIG, Thursday 8 January
• CLUG General Meeting Thursday 15 January

Melbourne

• The Linux Users of Victoria (LUV) Penguin Picnic will be held on Saturday 10 January from 12 noon until 4pm at the BBQ area in Docklands Park.
